New home for novices in Papua New Guinea
The religious formation in Papua New Guinea was initiated in 1992 by the late Fr. Zdzisław Kruczek, CSMA. For many years, we had many candidates, novices, and seminarians, which has resulted in the Michaelites currently having three local priests, three seminarians after temporary vows (two of whom will probably make their perpetual profession this year), one novice, three candidates studying philosophy, and one postulant who wishes to become a religious brother. Next year, we plan to accept four candidates who will begin their formation as postulants.
The current formation house is connected to the novitiate house, which is not conducive to the formation process. An additional difficulty is the location of the building in the city center. Therefore, we have decided to build a new novitiate house at the National Shrine of Divine Mercy in Ruqust, which has been entrusted to the pastoral care of the Michaelites. It is a special place where silence and concentration are very helpful in such an important period of formation as the novitiate. We are currently raising funds for the construction of this house. We sincerely thank all those who have already offered their help, and we ask those who want and are able to help to open their hearts to this very important investment.
