Papua New Guinea: Diaconate ordination and religious vows

At the Michaelite religious house in Mount Hagen (Papua New Guinea), at the turn of December 2023 and January 2024, diaconate ordinations, perpetual vows, as well as the ceremony of first profession and renewal of temporary vows by our confreres took place. First, on December 9, in the chapel of the religious house in Mount Hagen, Fr. John Wai CSMA made his vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience for life to the Vice-Superior of the Pacific Vice-Province, Fr. Bogdan Świerczewski CSMA. On December 16, at the National Shrine of Divine Mercy in Ruqust, Fr. John was ordained a deacon. The ordination was presided over by Archbishop Douglas Young, SVD. Fr. Tomasz Łepek, CSMA, currently serving in Sydney, Australia, as well as local clergy and religious sisters, participated in the celebrations. On January 13 of this year, also at the Shrine in Ruqust, three of our seminarians took their religious vows: Fr. Steven Pup made his perpetual profession, Fr. Simon Youngopae renewed his profession, and novice Victor Kali made his first religious vows. We commend the new deacon and our professed members to the community's prayers.
